How to erect a push up traditional marquee

I hope this page helps you erect your marquee quickly and safely. There are as many ways of erecting a marquee as there are days in the week, however I've been erecting marquees for over 20 years and this seems the safest and quickest.

However our 20' wide marquees don't come with ridge poles, although there is some noticeable dip in the roof we have found that this does not compromised the strength and makes the marquee much easier to put up. If your marquee has ridge poles (and I can't convince you to bin them!) you will need to push all the poles up together from the side.

Safety first!

Never let members of the public near a marquee before it is completely erected.
Never pitch or dismantle a marquee in windy conditions.
Marquees are temporary structures, as such there are foreseeable weather conditions such as high winds and snow where it is advisable not to permit members of the public into the marquee.
Do not erect marquees on loose or sandy soil.
All ropes should be checked and if necessary replaced prior to the erection of the marquee.
Make sure there are no buried services that could be affected.

To navigate this page click on each photograph which will explain each step of erecting a marquee.
