Erecting
a hoist up marquee |
Safety
first
Never let members of the public near a marquee before
it is completely
erected.
Always ensure that the main pole
is secure before letting it stand
upright.
Never pitch
or dismantle the marquee in windy conditions.
Marquees are
temporary structures and as such, where there are foreseeable
weather conditions
such as high winds and snow, it is advisable not to
allow members of the public
into the marquee.
Do not erect marquees on loose or sandy soil.
All
ropes should be checked and if necessary replaced prior to the erection
of
the marquee.
Make sure there are no buried services that could
be affected.
Please click on each photograph to obtain an
explanation of how to erect the marquee.
Fitting a lining.
Construct
a lining ridge pole using ropes suspended from the marquees ridge pole. This is
best done before the roofs are laid over the ridge pole. Tie 3 pulleys to each
ridge pole (one at each end and one in the middle). Tie the ropes used for pulling
up the lining to prevent them falling out when you pull up the lining.
When
the marquee is erected the lining ropes will dangle down from the ridge poles.
Tie the lining ridge to the ropes and lift to waist height tying the rope off
to a side pole.
Attach the middles of the lining to the ridge
pole with tie tapes (most linings go under the ridge pole not over)
Fasten
any lighting to the ridge pole and feed the cables to the top of the
lining.
Fasten
the lining panels together.
Pull the
lining up.
Pull the lining out with the corners and the seams
attaching the lining to the walling cord with the hooks on the lining.
Tie
the rest of the lining adjusting it for height.
Attach the
wall lining in a same manor.
Attach the valance with Velcro.
