This is a complete package of equipment used in City-Centre and
Town-Centres to provide a temporary ice rink.
Typically the local authority put the contract out to tender,
taking the full commercial risk. However some smaller authoritys
contribute to the overall project and profit-share on the income.
Typical hire rates for the equipment are £60K-£70K.
Capacity 200/hour; typically 10 sessions/day, with a typical adult
ticket price of £7.50 dependent upon location etc.

This equipment was bought for a three-year contract which has now
ended. I have a new (non-ice rink) project in hand for which I am

The Starship is a two storey structure offering over 400 sq feet
of floor space but occupying only 22ft x 9ft of ground space (30ft
including the wing panels by 18ft wide including the stage area).
The units comprise 2 x 22ft by 9ft cabins stacked one on top of
the other. The top one being rotatable so that the balcony can face
either way. There is a viewing / camera platform on the roof of
the top unit, facilitating a view some 22ft from the ground. The
balcony on the second level provides standing room for up to eight
people or four people seated.
At ground level the display/exhibition area can be accessed via
the fold-out stage. Staff access to the unit at ground level is
through a side door into the editing /office area and through into
the exhibition area. The second level is accessed by a staircase
and through a single door to the hospitality lounge and out on to
a viewing balcony through double French windows. There is seating
for up to 12 people on reception style furniture with occasional
coffee tables as well as a fold-away dining table which can accommodate
up to six people. The Hospitality kitchen area includes two fridges,
one microwave oven and one table top oven. There is ample cupboard
space for storage of drinks and consumables. There is a CD/Radio
player and speakers installed in the Hospitality Lounge. Both units
are fully carpeted with hardwearing weatherproof carpet. Internal
walls are covered in exhibition needlecord to facilitate the fixing
of graphics with Velcro. There are 13amp power outlets, TV, video
and phone points throughout. Each unit has a built in Chubb security
system.
Branding areas on the front of the unit are on the roof either
side 10’ x 3’ area of the upper unit, one side only
10’ x 8’. Wing panels four of each 8’ x 4’.
Above the stage 8’ x 1’4” branding panels, four
of 3’ x 2’, two of 3’ x 3’ and two of 2’
x 1’. There are two flag poles with flag arms.’
